Friday Five

Courtesy of bikergeek:
1. Who is your favorite celebrity?
I don't have one.

2. Who is your least favorite?
Same. IMHO "celebrity" is when lots of folks think you're "famous." I've seen too many "famous" people on TV who I've never heard of to take "celebrity" seriously.

3. Have you ever met or seen any celebrities in real life?
Yes, and I've worked with some. On the national/international level, probably the most famous person I've worked with was Jim Lange, who used to host The Dating Game in the 60s and 70s (I was his traffic reporter when he was on KKSJ). Others I've met include Harry and Tom Chapin (the former said I had a "good voice"), "Weird Al" Yankovic, J. Michael Straczynski (after a long e-mail correspondence), Harlan Ellison, Jodi Applegate (used to host "Later Today" on NBC -- we worked together at Metro Traffic), Christine Lavin, Margaret Colin (we were in freshman drama class together), Charles Osgood (no formal introduction, but we casually chatted one-on-one while walking to McEnery Convention Center), Vaughn Meader, and I've done telephone interviews with Tom Lehrer and Stan Freberg. As for local celebrities, I could fill pages.

4. Would you want to be famous? Why or why not?
Sure. It'd mean I was successful in the show business end of my life. I already don't give out my street address.

5. If you had to trade places with a celebrity for a day, who would you choose and why?
Jennifer Lopez. She seems to have everything going right for her, and she's young enough to enjoy her wealth.

A pleasantly uneventful Friday night

I went to aqua aerobics, then bought some candy molds (on sale!), and finally went to "Hot Bunch For Dinner." We had a nice dinner of Burmese food at Rangoon in Palo Alto, but because the guy driving was recovering from food poisoning (from elsewhere, thank Ghu!), we didn't do dessert but headed straight back to his place (from which most of us had car pooled).

I didn't quite get enough to eat, but hey, it was tasty, the company was great, and I need to lose weight anyway. I'm pondering some kind of "dessert" at home -- maybe chocolate, chocolate pudding, chocolate custard, hot chocolate....there's a pattern here, isn't there?

Warren went to Good Friday services and then to dinner at his folks' house. He'll eventually be back (so he thinks, anyway). I hopefully will get to sleep in tomorrow morning and have a leisurely brunch with friends. trektone says Hobee's now has peach-pecan coffeecake, and I'd like to try it.
